Hi Alicia, I'm new to your blog and wanted to share my thoughts on the whole "African" American verbage Black American's use to identify themselves. I seriously think we need to discard the "African" and call ourselves Black Americans. We only perpetuate the marginalization by coupling another continent before the most powerful country in the free world that we helped build albeit forced. Whites don't do this and I think Africans secretly scoff and marginalize our value for doing so. Hope this isn't harsh but had to share my thought when I read your Bi line for your blog. Thank you, History = Future
Thank you for your comments. I think the choice to use "African American," "Black," or anything else is a personal choice. I really never thought about what Africans think about us using that description. I'm sure anyway, that not all Africans have the same opinion about the matter. In any case, it's the description I've chosen for myself.
I hope you'll continue to check out Cappuccino Soul.

Hi Brother Kue,
I'm not the creator of the mural -- only the photographer. I'll make that more clear in the post. It is lovely though, isn't it?
:-)
