"Loving your hair is loving yourself," says Dr. Jackie Copeland-Carson, one of the subjects in the documentary
Hair Stories, directed by master hair braider and filmmaker Yvette Smalls.
I believe she's right. That's why I was so happy to hear that my dear friend and sister Celestine (a.k.a. Celeste) decided to let her hair exist in its natural state.
Here she is celebrating 16 months of "going natural" -- Isn't she lovely? Congratulations sister and may you continue to keep on loving yourself.

Thanks sis! I love it.

I'm so glad! I hope you serve as an inspiration to other girls and women. It's a beautiful thing to go with the hair that God gave you!

So many of my associates are going natural because of me..I never knew the real texture of hair until I cut all hair by mistake, but i'm so glad I did sis...

I've heard so many women who go natural say they didn't know they would love the texture of their hair so much. It's just all those bad messages we got about our hair when we were young. Let's change the tide!
